Call for Submissions & Special Issue Proposals 2026
CALLS FOR SPECIAL ISSUE GUEST EDITORS
We are happy to invite guest editors for special issues on themes relevant to aesthetics and philosophy of art broadly construed. Would-be guest editors are advised to contact us with a proposal, specifying and motivating the theme, identifying potential contributors, and laying out a rough timeline.
CALLS FOR SUBMISSIONS
We welcome research articles (max 7500 words) addressing issues in or relevant to aesthetics and the philosophy of the art broadly construed. We are especially interested in contributions from early-career scholars, as well as papers that come at familar debates from novel angles.
We also welcome brief, targetted texts (max. 3,500 words) attempting to initiate or refresh aesthetic discussion on targetted topics. This includes, but is not limited to, novel aesthetics puzzles, short replies, or discussion notes.
We also welcome reviews of recently published books in or relevant to aesthetics and the philosophy of the art broadly construed. Contact the editor if a review copy is required.
Finally, for our Arts & Artists section, we welcome short texts (approx. 3500 words) discussing particular artists and their art in a philosophical manner. We are especially interested in notes from working artists/critics on (some of) the following questions:
- Which philosophical problem(s) are you addressing with in your art?
- Which philosophical problem(s) is artist X addressing with their art?
- How does aesthetics/philosophy of art impact your work?
- "Why didn't you just ask generative AI to make your work instead?"
If you've any questions about the above, please contact the editor!
